Quick answer
Luxury rehab in Palm Beach County usually means private residential treatment in coastal cities like Palm Beach, Boca Raton, Delray Beach and Jupiter. The area offers warm winters and easy airport access. Because South Florida has a long history of patient brokering cases, confirm every program's Florida DCF license and accreditation before you enroll.
Why do people choose Palm Beach and South Florida for luxury rehab?
Palm Beach County stretches along Florida’s southeast Atlantic coast, between Broward County to the south and the Treasure Coast to the north. The coast is lined with barrier islands, beaches and the Intracoastal Waterway, with suburbs and open land to the west toward Lake Okeechobee.
People travel here for treatment for several reasons:
- Warm winters. Winter and early spring bring mild, drier weather, which draws many out-of-state visitors.
- A coastal, resort-style setting. Beaches, waterways and upscale neighborhoods appeal to people seeking privacy and calm.
- Distance from home. A new setting can help some people step away from daily triggers.
- Easy travel. Three major airports serve the region.

Which Palm Beach County cities have luxury programs?
| Area | Setting |
|---|---|
| Palm Beach | Upscale barrier island town with estates and beachfront |
| West Palm Beach | The county’s largest city, across the Intracoastal from Palm Beach |
| Boca Raton | Affluent southern city with beaches and planned communities |
| Delray Beach and Boynton Beach | Walkable downtowns and beach neighborhoods |
| Lake Worth Beach | Smaller coastal city with a laid-back feel |
| Jupiter and Palm Beach Gardens | Northern county; quieter, with waterways and golf communities |
Nearby Fort Lauderdale and Broward County are also popular. Browse all of Florida on our luxury rehab in Florida page.
What amenities do Palm Beach luxury rehabs offer?
Amenities vary and aren’t verified by us. In general terms, upscale programs may offer private or semi-private rooms, chef-prepared meals, pools, beach outings, fitness and yoga, massage and holistic options, equine or adventure therapy, a small census with more individual therapy, and executive accommodations such as scheduled work time (see executive rehab).
A resort-like setting doesn’t guarantee better outcomes. According to NIDA, effective treatment addresses the whole person and often combines behavioral therapy with medication when appropriate. Look for licensed medical staff, dual-diagnosis treatment and a written aftercare plan. If you need detox, make sure it’s medically supervised. Withdrawal from alcohol and benzodiazepines can be life-threatening. See luxury detox.
Why do South Florida rehabs need extra scrutiny?
Palm Beach County became one of the best-known centers of patient brokering and sober home fraud in the country during the 2010s. According to testimony the Palm Beach County State Attorney gave to Congress in 2017, his office formed a Sober Homes Task Force in July 2016. The task force made dozens of arrests, mostly for patient brokering, and worked with federal prosecutors on insurance fraud cases. A grand jury and citizen task forces also recommended changes to state law.
Florida responded with several protections:
- The Patient Brokering Act (Florida Statutes 817.505) makes it a felony to offer, pay, solicit or receive kickbacks or other benefits for patient referrals.
- HB 807 (2017) strengthened oversight of the recovery industry and added civil and criminal penalties for deceptive marketing, including false claims about a provider’s services or location.
- Recovery residence rules (Florida Statutes 397.4873) generally bar licensed providers from referring patients to recovery residences unless they’re certified and run by a certified administrator.
Red flags to watch for:
- “Free” flights, rent, gym memberships or cash to enroll
- Being moved between sober homes and outpatient programs without a clear plan
- A program focused mainly on your insurance card
- Sober homes marketed as “luxury rehab”
- Marketing that hides where a program actually is
Before you commit, confirm the program’s license with the Florida Department of Children and Families (DCF), which licenses substance use treatment providers under Chapter 397. Then check accreditation through The Joint Commission’s Quality Check or CARF’s provider search. For recovery housing, ask whether the home is certified, and read our page on luxury sober living.
How do you get to Palm Beach County for treatment?
Palm Beach International Airport (PBI) in West Palm Beach is the most central option. Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International (FLL) is convenient for Boca Raton and south county, and Miami International (MIA) offers the most international flights. Boca Raton Airport serves private and general aviation. Airport pickup is a normal service; a program paying your airfare in exchange for enrolling is not.
How much does luxury rehab cost in South Florida?
Costs vary widely. Luxury residential programs often cost tens of thousands of dollars per month. Many upscale programs are out-of-network:
- PPO plans may pay part of out-of-network care after a separate deductible, then coinsurance.
- Balance billing may apply for charges above the plan’s allowed amount.
- Single-case agreements sometimes allow negotiated rates.
- HMO and EPO plans usually don’t cover out-of-network care.
If you’re coming from another state, most out-of-state Medicaid plans won’t pay for treatment in Florida. See luxury rehab cost and whether insurance covers rehab.
How we select programs for this list
The programs shown below meet our private-pay residential standard: privately operated, residential (inpatient), accredited by The Joint Commission or CARF, and accepting private insurance or self-pay rather than Medicaid. These signals come from SAMHSA data and tend to go along with upscale settings. Amenities vary and aren’t verified by us, so confirm them with each program.

Frequently asked questions
Where are luxury rehabs in Palm Beach County?
Private residential programs are spread across the county, including West Palm Beach, Boca Raton, Delray Beach, Boynton Beach, Lake Worth Beach, Jupiter and Palm Beach Gardens. Some are near the coast and Intracoastal Waterway, and others are in quieter inland neighborhoods.
Why has South Florida been linked to rehab fraud?
Palm Beach County became a focus of patient brokering and sober home fraud investigations in the 2010s. The Palm Beach County State Attorney's Office formed a Sober Homes Task Force in 2016, which led to dozens of arrests, mostly for patient brokering, and helped shape a 2017 state law, HB 807, that tightened oversight of treatment marketing and providers.
Is patient brokering illegal in Florida?
Yes. Florida's Patient Brokering Act (Florida Statutes 817.505) makes it a felony to offer, pay, solicit or receive kickbacks or other benefits in exchange for patient referrals. Offers of free flights, rent or cash to enter treatment are major warning signs.
How much does luxury rehab cost in Palm Beach?
Costs vary widely by program, length of stay and services. Luxury residential programs often cost tens of thousands of dollars per month. Get a written estimate and check your out-of-network benefits before you commit.
Does insurance cover luxury rehab in South Florida?
Sometimes, in part. Many upscale programs are out-of-network, so a PPO with out-of-network benefits may pay a share after the deductible and coinsurance. HMO and EPO plans usually don't. Our admissions helpline can check your benefits.
When is the best time of year to go to rehab in Palm Beach?
Treatment shouldn't wait for good weather. That said, winter and early spring are drier and milder, while summer is hot and humid with frequent storms. Atlantic hurricane season runs from June 1 to November 30, so ask any program about its storm and evacuation plan.
